I had just dropped Joe off at work and was on my way to the gym when I noticed this song on the radio. I hadn’t heard it before, but anyone one who knows me won’t be that surprised… I’m not really a music buff unless we’re talking Neil Diamond or Simon and Garfunkel (thanks mom and dad). Anyway, it was love at first… ear? hear? You get the picture. The song was “Amazing” by Josh Kelley. I didn’t catch all the words, but I loved the chorus.

So come on let me see
I say baby you are amazing
I want to let you see
That you are everything and more to me
I will let you be I will I will

For that little moment I let the song speak to me. I gave myself permission to believe the words… I’m amazing.  And I wanted to share that with you… you’re amazing. We all are. There are a kabillion writers in the world trying to eek out a manuscript for the kabillion and a half readers gobbling up new stories. We each have different strengths and stories to offer. It is easy to look at the guy or girl next to you (or their blog/book) and believe that you don’t have a reason to write. That you just aren’t that good. But for one day I challenge you (but mostly myself), to allow yourself to believe that YOU. ARE. AMAZING. I don’t care if you’re a writer, reader, publisher, agent, garbage man. You are amazing. You can be fat, tall, skinny, short, bald or have purple hair. Doesn’t matter. You are amazing. And when this day is over, wake up tomorrow and choose to have one more day in which you believe you are amazing with limitless possibilities.

I think that is my goal. I’m not gonna worry about believing I’m amazing a year from now or even a month or a week. I just need to believe it for today.

Enjoy! (This is definitely getting added to a not-yet-created set list that I will listen to before I write.)
